About this deal

This isn't the spicy oriental in comparison to London Burberry, Opium, or Obsession, these latter fragrances are much spicier.

Try it on the skin after hot bath or shower and under the clothes to preserve the smell and it will blossom on you like it was intended to. this is my second time wearing this fragrance and looks like I've come to same conclusion on both occassions, which is. I might wear this for my upcoming wedding since it's a unique fragrance and I can see myself eventually developing a sense of nostalgia around it. I was hoping for a dirty rose scent like Vivenne Westwood's Boudoir, but maybe that was wishful thinking. This has also been noted by others, both directly using the word chypre and by describing a "camphorous" or medicinal aspect to it.

I just bought this because one of the reviewers said it smelled like sun moon and stars by Lagerfeld and I loved that fragrance. Diamonds and Rubies and Hermès Rouge share a certain uniqueness in that not many fragrances smell like this. To be honest, I always passed this frag without bothering to try it - a good lesson to never underestimate the "cheap" stuff.I apologise for emphasising old in this review, but you all know what I mean, it's a way of describing frags that many understand, politics aside. If you've ever wondered what's a great scent to combine with the smell of french fries it's Passion apparently. I'm no good at individual notes, but the rose is up there, a big beautiful voluptuous rose with warmth underneath.

I'm surprised how delitious slightly sour sweet peach with little bit of cinnamon developed on my skin after maybe 20 or 30 minutes. Don’t get me wrong I’m not complaining, I had a big grin of my face because I absolutely loved the smell and was very comfortable with it - at home. This would be the perfect concentration for late summer and early fall when the days are still warm but you’re ready to reach for your fall fragrances. White Diamonds (1991) is Liz Taylor dressed from head to toe in diamond jewelry, earrings, bracelets, and necklaces, her voluptuous figure draped in a white sequin robe as she walks up to a platform to receive an Oscar or Achievement Award. For me Diamonds and Rubies was too heavy on the spices where the rose and powdery goodness were escaping me leaving me with a dull headache. As an early flanker of White Diamonds, Diamonds and Rubies retains the regal character that established this line of perfumes as a serious presence.

The name "Passion" fits Elizabeth Taylor and is a word that was well chosen to introduce her very first perfume. Until I joined Fragrantica I didn't even know what a nose was let alone know that I had so many by the same nose. I also own Guerlain’s Nahema and I do definitely detect a similarity to that, except Diamonds and Rubies is slightly softer and more powdery. Diamonds and Rubies is a little bit fuzzier than Hermès Rouge, but that seems to be a Sophia Grojsman watermark. For now I would say absolutely get the perfume because it is a beautiful spicy fragrance but I really don't care for the EDT.The spices and powder are also noticeable even before the drydown giving the impression of a very grand lady at her dressing table powdering her nose. This smells enough like Tresor that I was immediately transported in my mind back to high school when my mom wore it.
