Rather he’s an unwitting accomplice, drawn into Persephone’s reckless scheme when she jumps into hell of her own free will. THE WRITING, THE HUMOUR, THE GREEK GODS AND THE PURE VIBES, KORE <3 Stay tuned for when I meet Hades. But faking an epic love story to fool history brings with it complications neither of them anticipated, including the very real feelings they begin to have for each other, which become increasingly difficult to turn off when they’re away from their captive audience. For me, it's a disappointing book because I was hoping for so much more and I felt like we are delivered something completely bizarre and unexpected, and not in a pleasantly surprising way. From the side characters such as Styx, to the other inhabitants of the Underworld, to Persephone herself.

I loved the arc of their romance and how they grew from almost enemies to cautious friends to real friendship and then undergoing a 'fake' marriage situation, all the while they have the most insane chemistry and banter. and she has a controlling mother, Demeter, who has told her how to act and how to be all of her entire life. Different topics are dealt with which makes the reader connect to the characters on a deeper and emotional level. I think this book was supposed to be about female empowerment and all the 'down with the patriarchy' sort of things, but I personally just find it hard to relate to problems such as having men lining up to court me, let alone men who are so gorgoeus, no beauty as such existed before. The other Kronids — Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades and Poseidon — were the stolen children of other titans, which then creates so many more questions.I actually bought this book by accident, but I decided to read it anyway, and it was a really good read.

I’m not certain what I expected from this Hades and Persephone retelling, but this was quite different from the many others I’ve read in the past. It's equal parts rom-com and fantasy while effortlessly weaving in Greek mythology elements and characters. The characters were sweet, from how this book is marketed you're expecting a feisty FMC, which she is, but she's also balanced - which I love to see.To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Readers were expecting wonderful things from Bea Fitzgerald’s debut, and it doesn’t disappoint in the slightest.
