About this deal

Remove the lower seat pad to expose the harness storage door, then move the buckle strap to the rear slot. So, although I would happily use the Milestone in rear facing baby seat mode and also in high back booster mode, I wouldn’t use the Graco Milestone in it’s forward facing group 1 mode. Our first impressions were of a very solid, well constructed car seat, which Eliza couldn’t wait to get into!

This is great, to have a rear facing seat from birth that you can fit with a seatbelt and a 5 point seat belt too (later). Read along as we find hidden gems, pack as much holiday time in as possible, while working a 9-5 and find amazing and unusual experiences. We were given a Graco Milestone Car Seat for the purpose of this review all words and opinions are my own.I think it's great how the headrest and harness adjust together which makes life so much easier for us parents.

But I needn’t have worried – straight out of the box the installation was a breeze (the Milestone has no ISOFIX but is a Universal fit, which means the chair has to be installed in the car with an adult seat belt. However, when you look further afield, you can compare the Milestone to other multi-stage, combination car seats like the Diono Radian V, Be Safe iZi Plus, Cybex Sirona or the Recaro Zero. I was most excited about it because with 4 children between the ages of 1 and 11, it meant that I could use it for all of them from time to time. The headrest and harness adjust together which is great, it literally takes seconds to adjust to fit their height.

With the Milestone you genuinely only have one purchase to make – not only is this fab in a one-less-thing-to-worry-about kind of way, but the savings also add up over the years. We have used it for almost 4 years with our eldest child who will soon be using it as a bumper seat.

However, as technology and carseat models are upgraded so often I wonder if anyone would actually use the carseat for 12 years? We bought 2 of these for our boys and found them perfect for them can be a bit of a pain to get the seatbelt through a plug and the recline isn't that great but other than that they are fantastic car seats! The no-rethread harness simultaneously adjusts with the headrest to ensure a secure fit at every stage. I suspect the Previa will be absolutely fine too, I just need to get my car to a Mothercare or Halfords and get it checked first. Machine washable seat pad too – it can be removed without removing the harness so it is super easy to keep the car seat clean from grubby little fingers (and when yogurt raisins are the current snack of choice, machine washable is essential). The Milestone has side impact protection in the headrest to ensure that children are always safe and secure, and a durable, steel reinforced frame built into the seat provides added safety. The car seat is designed as an 'all-in-one' model and can be used from birth and all the way through childhood until your child is 12 years old.

The only thing that I'm disappointed with is that although it reclines, the instructins say not to recline the seat when it's facing forward. Initially we found this a little strange but managed to get the right position for Kipper to ensure both his head is supported and the straps are the right height. However, the seat can be used as a rear-facing seat until your child is 13kg, around 12 to 15 months. But probably the most marked difference is the rear-facing features of the seats; the Milestone can be used in the rear-facing position from birth until little ones weigh 13kg, which is about 2-and-a-half years. The biggest benefits for me are that it's so easy to adjust it's size and can be efficiently transferred to another car. If a baby falls asleep in the car seat, the baby should be removed from the car seat and placed in a cradle.
