Rare is the classic expression of the House of Hine, and a benchmark for its entire collection of Cognacs. With flavours of ripe apricot, succulent melon and roasted nectarine, this Cognac is best enjoyed neat but works equally well in classic and celebratory cocktails. Created in 1763, Hine Cognac is more than 250 years old; it is proudly one of the oldest houses in the region.
It's a blend of several Grande and Petite Champagne Eaux-de-vie with most being older than the minimum 4 years of age. Their base is to be found on the banks of the Charente in the town of Jarnac in the heart of the region. Hine’s philosophy is to create the highest quality Cognacs, respecting the Maison’s heritage and terroir focussing on fruity and floral characteristics.

As a tribute to Thomas Hine, an adventurous Englishman who travelled from England in the 18th century to discover the subtleties within Cognac, the cellar master Eric Forget has developed this original spirit, characterised by orange peel notes, nuts and honey flavours.
What marks Hine apart is that the casks are sent to the United Kingdom to mature a different temperature and humidity than other Cognacs, creating a special vitality in the drink. It is made by pulverising almonds and macerating them in high strength but good quality white grape spirit for 2 weeks.
