About this deal

I wish Henry harbored mutual resentment for Alice rather than immediately being drawn to her — it feels dismissive of her academic capabilities and removes tension from the relationship. The concept of this book was so fun and entertaining but considered some really heavy topics as well, especially as money was such a huge part of the story. In this genre-bending YA debut, a Chinese American girl monetizes her strange new invisibility powers by discovering and selling her wealthy classmates’ most scandalous secrets. I loved their banter and their scenes together, especially as Alice gradually realizes that Henry isn’t a bad person. it's unfortunate that some parents make their children feel like a burden and believe that providing basic necessities is too overwhelming for them.

after the encounter, suddenly, a wave of unease washes over her as she begins to shiver uncontrollably, her breath quickening and becomes invisible, realizing something is terribly wrong. this book has been on my tbr and one of my most anticipated reads for months and i just want to say that ann liang’s books will never disappoint!then we have alice who thinks they both hate one another when in reality henry never hated her AHH I LOVED THAT SCENE WHEN HE ADMITTED IT BYE. Kidnapping, Injury, Classism, Mentions of Child Pornography, Cheating, Crimes, Panic Attacks, Stalking, Infidelity, Racism, Swearing, Abuse, Bullying, etc. The chemistry between these two is absolutely unmatched and the banter (mostly one-sided on Alice’s end) was so fun to read about!

The plot was decently straightforward, and while it was slightly slow in the beginning, which is one of the reasons I'm not giving this a full five stars, it picked up once everything had been sorted out.

i would rather spend the rest of this train ride fighting with him than let him be alone with his thoughts and fears again. After another ceremony where Alice is celebrated for her grades, she has to share the spotlight again with none other than her ridiculously handsome nemesis, Henry Li. When she isn’t writing, she can be found making over-ambitious to-do lists, binge-watching dramas, and having profound conversations with her pet labradoodle about who’s a good dog. i kind of wish that they gave an explanation as to why she does turn invisible but i do undersstand that it's a metaphor for finding yourself but IDC IDC ANN LIANG SUPREMACY.
