Description

This may seem like a huge amount of history to explore in just one book, and yet, I could see my protagonist, Kasia clearly here.

The Spy Who Loved: The Secrets and Lives of Christine Granville, Britain's first female special agent of the Second World War. In July 1944, she parachuted into France to join the resistance in the Vercors region as lieutenant to Francis Cammaerts – one of Britain’s top agents and the key leader in that area. She proved to be courageous and smart when she took a conspiratorial Tatra mountain trail through Slovakia to occupied Poland.

Following a short-lived first marriage, Krystyna met a Polish diplomat, Count Jerzy Giżycki, on the ski slopes. Upon their release they were given British passports and new identities: she became known as Christine Granville whilst Andrzej adopted the name Andrew Kennedy. Her fearless spirit and exceptional espionage skills inspired admiration from colleagues and lovers alike.

Her homeschooling finally came to an end when she was sent to school, where she attended fifth grade.
