About this deal

Just reading the book helped me identify some of the things going on in my life - that's without doing any actual work! and also a nostalgic novel about a time in Britain when classes were better integrated and more mutually supportive. Toad goes to see Heron, the local counsellor, who is a gentle, kind, thoughtful, serious yet confrontational person, the type of person one would hope to meet in a counsellor. Through this anthropomorphic parable, de Board takes readers into a realistic, humorous, and humane account of being in psychotherapy. That said, I don’t think it’s essential as this book is packed with thought- provoking insights into behaviour and personal growth!

Sách có nhắc đến khuôn mẫu cảm xúc, cách xử lý cảm xúc đúng cách chớ không nên chối bỏ, ngó lơ hay đè nén nó. Toad's depression, though it has a lot to do with the people and things that surround him currently, is rooted in his original family. Bạn bè nhận ra chàng Cóc có nhiều dấu hiệu của trầm cảm và rồi giới thiệu cậu tới gặp bác Diệc, người thực hành trị liệu theo trường phái phân tâm học của Freud. Counselling for Toad includes the characters and previous story of the classic "Wind in the Willows" The author, through beautiful writing had bought the characters to life just as they did in the original story. Một vài chi tiết không được liên kết chặt chẽ lắm (VD Cóc có kể về ký ức với các cháu, nhưng bản thân Cóc là con một không có anh em ruột, và suốt câu chuyện cũng không thấy nhắc gì tới anh em họ).He is President of the village cricket club and also of the local British Legion, in addition to serving as the church warden.

Brilliantly uses one of the world's favourite stories for all ages to engagingly and revealingly take us through the psychotherapeutic process and transactional analysis. As the reader learns about Toad, the story sheds light on our own lives, psychological growth and development. The relationship with Toad and Heron (his counsellor) grows as the story is told and the relationships with his friends change and evolve as Toad recovers from his depression becoming a different version of himself. I, for example, was able to re-evaluate some recent family trauma and see it in a more positive light. Như trong truyện là việc Ngài Cóc "lớn" đi trị liệu tâm lý, bước vào một hành trình phản tư, và tự kết nối với bản thân, từ đó chữa lành Ngài Cóc "bé".When Toad sees Badger, he immediately thinks of his father, especially when Badger is criticizing him. If you've been feeling tired, dejected, unproductive, worthless, or even suicidal lately, you may be suffering from depression, just like Toad.

Fortunately, Toad's friends recognized that he was acting strange and advised him to seek psychological counseling in time, otherwise the consequences could have been unimaginable. Good introduction (though too short) to counseling process and transactional analysis used in therapy. Toad's rollercoaster of emotions and memories is highly relatable, whilst listening I thought a lot about what my own parents' upbringings would have been like, what mine was like and what psychological games I might be playing. This lack of intimate interaction between mother and son caused Toad to experience a lonely childhood without love or happiness. His good friends do not understand that people with depression can lack motivation and physical strength; and even eating can be difficult.Structure: The plot followed a traditional chronological structure, with short passages of Toads own recollections and flash backs and this was a nice read and meant that you could easily progress through Toads healing with him. Used the Wind in the Willows characters to communicate some basic concepts in Transactional Analysis. The book offers a number of lifelong social rules that break down the way people think about social behavior. When Toad pours out his past issues and emotions to Heron, he listens attentively and gives timely responses. It is a brave decision to choose the “I’m okay; you’re okay,” path because this life position is a dynamic process, and it’s also a commitment.
