I position my own reading of Targets as a form of remote reading, embodied yet not present to the constructed space of the viewer in the artwork.
To portray meaningful relationships for a complex, three-dimensional world on a flat sheet of paper or a video screen, a map must distort reality. The differences in how it is being used are such that it is preferable to move to an alternate term, rather than attempt to impose a uniformity of meaning where that does not exist.
