About this deal

So if you want whiter teeth, you might not get quite such good results with the 4100 as you would with the 5100 and 6100, but this is harder to prove in the real world. The Pro 1000 also has a pressure sensor, but it’s silent. It only slightly reduces the intensity if you press down too hard. Although it provides the same number of brush strokes, the motor has been tuned differently for better results. Perfecting your brushing routine, including the brushing time, technique and frequency will bring more positive benefit than any particular toothbrush. Or since the brushes and their cleaning is advertised differently, might that play a role in the overall number also?

Oral-B brush heads tend to be smaller than the oval brush heads favored by Sonicare. These toothbrushes are a bit easier to maneuver in your mouth. If you’re not too hot on remembering when you last replaced your head this can be a handy reminder. For example, you also have to consider your technique – how you brush with an electric toothbrush. Both types of toothbrush need a different technique to manual toothbrushes.Plaque disclosing tests confirm that the 4100 does a very good job of cleaning your teeth. I get that deep and invigorating clean feeling after each use. I certainly have no complaints. You can switch between 2 brushing intensities Keep the power on/off button pressed until you hear a series of three short beeps (after 7 seconds). An industry average 2 year warranty against defects and workmanship is provided. Unfortunately, no parts on the brush are designed to be user serviceable thus, should it fail, in most cases, they will send you a new brush. The range of brushes on offer from Sonicare, as well as the slight variations between models, can make it a daunting task to choose the right brush. Do also be aware that many existing Sonicare toothbrushes actually offer up to 62,000 movements. None of these models do.

Philips exclude a 2 pin power adapter citing the environmental benefits. This is good, but feels somewhat silly when the handle and charging stand still come wrapped unnecessarily in plastic. Sonicare has always emphasized aesthetics slightly more than Oral-B, and the Protective Clean is no exception. A slightly less powerful feeling might be noticed by existing Sonicare toothbrush users. But, even to me, this difference isn’t immediately obvious due to the way the motor has been tuned.Based on what I know the motors in the 4100 & 4300 are better, but all will clean the teeth comparably, if used correctly. Reply There is quite some mystery around the speed/strokes, vibrations, intensity and modes as you say. Even with some information, it doesn’t always help. One problem many people encounter when switching from a manual toothbrush to an electric is improper use. People either brush too hard or fail to replace the brush heads when they get worn out. Both can damage enamel and cause oral health issues. 6 The question you ask, is a very good one, and it is not one I actually answer in this written comparison. This works for a number of reasons. You might have inflammation or sensitivity and want a more gentle clean or you may share the handle with older children who could benefit from less power delivery to be more gentle on their teeth and gums.
