While this utility knife from Bosch might operate similarlyto the other knives when in use, instead of retracting when you've finished, the blade folds away. This makes it easier to store, once you've finished using it. I also used to like these but I have decided I don't like the 'wheel' style blade release on the top of the knife. I find I accidentally release the blade too often if cutting something that's putting up a bit of a fight.

This is just a handy small and cheap knife set to have around the home. They are designed to be disposable, but once finished you can still buy replacement blades. They are a bit flimsy but as long as you use them for light work, you will have no trouble with these. I still have a few of these I got from work many years ago when they changed to the "safety" type. They stop in certain drawers, should I buy a new one if the old ones still do their jobs - the folding ones do look nice though This is one tough knife with all the right features. The blade folds away, comes with 5 spare blades and can also clip on to your belt.

Safe to handle thanks to the secure knife, which can be released using a button, and a rubber handle I love a good quality folding stanley knife. It makes the standard design redundant, especially if you're carrying it around. While practicality is always the most important factor when it comes to tools, there's nothing wrong with having one that looks pretty cool as well. Thankfully, the Gerber Prybrid delivers on both fronts, with a nifty, compact construction and top quality craftsmanship. There was only ever going to be one brand taking our top spot. The question was, which style we would choose? In the end, we've opted for the FatMax Pro as the die-cast aluminium body is not only built for strength and durability, but has the capacity to store up to 15 additional blades.

This offering from Stanley comes with a Dynagrip soft-touch polypropylene body. This ensures a light, strong and, most importantly, comfortable knife for general purpose use. Super simple to change a blade safely. There is also a nice little thumb grip on top, when you need to apply some extra pressure such as when you are trimming or cutting carpet as an example. When you then think of the number of businesses in the UK, I am sure there are a few million more. They are of course a very useful tool to have, and are used for a whole range of tasks. The most imperative factor you need to consider when choosing a Stanley knife is whether you require a fixed or snap-off blade. Fixed blade Stanley knives come in many variations, from retractable to folding, but the blade part stays the same throughout.

Top 5 Stanley Knives

Here we have a couple of Stanley knives that are slightly different from the others on this list as they're designed to be thrown away. However, as the blades have a decent lifespan, they're still a good option if you're looking for something handy to open parcels, trim plastics or shave wood.
